Position Overview
Summary:
The Technical Facilities/EHS Engineer plays a key role in supporting the construction and commissioning of a new facility, focusing on the installation and optimization of electrical and mechanical systems. This role also ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards throughout the build-out, start-up, and operational phases, promoting a safe and sustainable workplace.
Key Responsibilities
1. Facility Management & Maintenance
- Identify and procure necessary spare parts prior to facility start-up.
- Oversee the installation of critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
- Troubleshoot and resolve facility-related issues efficiently.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintenance checklists.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with plant maintenance teams to support ongoing operations.
Post-Start-Up:
- Manage daily facility maintenance operations.
- Implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure system reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Respond promptly to facility emergencies and urgent repair requests.
2. Project Coordination
- Partner with the Project Manager and Start-Up Leader to align facility improvements with project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to meet operational requirements.
- Recommend upgrades and improvements to facility infrastructure.
- Contribute to the facility start-up plan and provide technical documentation and training.
- Offer engineering support for problem-solving and design enhancements.
- Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in daily project and start-up meetings.
3. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with EHS regulations during all project phases.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities and safety procedures.
- Develop and display evacuation plans and emergency maps.
4. Energy Efficiency
- Identify and lead initiatives to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
5. Budget & Cost Management
- Assist in developing and managing the facility build-out budget.
- Oversee the annual maintenance budget, including cost tracking and optimization.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
6. Vendor & Contractor Oversight
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for system installations and services.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend service contracts for facility systems.
- Implement training and certification programs for equipment such as forklifts.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance schedules, and work orders.
- Prepare reports on facility progress, costs, and performance metrics.
- Provide regular updates to management on facility operations and issues.
8. General Responsibilities
- Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
