The ideal candidate will focus on validating RF performance for 4G/5G Open RAN-compliant radios. This role involves developing test plans, resolving hardware defects, performance testing and ensuring conformance with industry standards. The position requires firm RF expertise, hands-on experience with lab setups, and advanced testing tools, including Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Power meter, Network Analyzer Logic Analyzer and Oscilloscope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to set up and configure the Device-Under-Test (DUT), including radio units and subsystems with Layer 1 functionality, as per O-RAN standards.
- Use tools like Keysight or Rohde & Schwarz VSA & VSG to perform Tx and Rx test model verification of channels as defined in 3GPP 36-141 (4G) and 38-141 (5G).
- Design and configure test scenarios, building lab setups based on 3GPP specifications.
- Capture and analyze test logs, working closely with R&D and cross-functional teams for issue identification and resolution.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and setups to ensure products meet performance goals outlined in specifications, internal guidelines, and customer expectations.
- Contribute to the automation of testing processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or a related field.
- Strong background in wireless communications, RF specifications, air interface protocols, and proficiency with RF test instruments.
- Knowledge of 4G/5G wireless technologies, RF systems, and networking.
- Experience configuring and operating test setups, including signal generators, analyzers, and channel emulators.
- Firm knowledge of RF system budgeting, including link budgets, power budgets, and thermal analysis.
- Familiarity with RF test parameters such as EVM, ACLR, sensitivity, dynamic range, and other key performance metrics.
- Hands-on experience with RF and hardware development tools, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and RF simulation.
- 5+ years of wireless industry experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using RF test instruments and conducting basic RF measurements, such as cable loss, noise figure, and power consumption.
- Ability to develop scripts and automate testing processes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
