Master Scheduler

Location: Willoughby, OH

Industry: CNC Precision Parts / Industrial Manufacturing

Experience Level: Mid-level (5+ years)

Salary Target Range: $75K-$95K

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Master Scheduler to lead our production planning efforts and ensure smooth manufacturing operations. This role is essential for aligning production schedules with customer demand, managing capacity, and working closely with cross-functional teams to keep operations running efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Production Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, internal forecasts, and stocking requirements.
  • Use MRP tools (Macola) to analyze demand and generate work orders.
  • Schedule workflow across departments according to routing, resource availability, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate closely with production supervisors and department leads to optimize scheduling and resolve conflicts.
  • Monitor manufacturing output and adjust schedules as needed to meet customer delivery timelines.
  • Lead daily and weekly production meetings to address schedule changes, material availability, and production priorities.
  • Identify and mitigate scheduling risks by proactively adjusting plans or escalating issues.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work with Customer Service, Engineering, and Operations to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with material planners and inventory teams to ensure availability of raw materials and components.
  • Interface with Quality and Program Management teams to align production with ongoing projects or audits.

Capacity and Performance Monitoring

  • Track and report on departmental capacity, production lead times, and schedule adherence.
  • Recommend adjustments to shift structures or staffing based on upcoming workload.
  • Analyze historical data to improve scheduling accuracy and efficiency.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Generate and distribute key scheduling and performance reports, including:
  • Daily Workcenter status
  • Weekly/Monthly Department Capacity Reports
  • Reschedule Delivery and Late Delivery Detail Reports
  • Inventory movement and slow-moving stock updates
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve production flow, reduce delays, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Assist with system and process improvements related to scheduling and production planning.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a CNC or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with MRP/ERP systems (Macola preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, shop floor routing, and resource planning.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and coordinating across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
