Job Description

The Non-Credit Instructor in Information Technology is responsible for delivering instruction and training to a variety of students for the purpose of increasing their employability in technical or non-technical career fields. Instruction and training delivery may be accomplished in settings requiring in person, hybrid, or virtual presence on a regular basis throughout the duration of an assigned course or program. The Non-Credit Instructor may also meet with College or business partner representatives to learn business, occupation or industry-specific training needs pertinent to the courses the instructor has been assigned to teach. Essential job functions include delivering and facilitating assigned training curriculum in various settings including customer sites, partner sites, remotely (work-from-home), or college locations; using adult learning delivery methods and classroom audio/visual equipment; assisting in planning and implementing learning activities; performing active learning lessons and assessments; conducting refresher training or one-on-one sessions; maintaining course materials; employing assessment techniques; conducting student surveys; reporting to class environments prepared and on time; demonstrating professionalism and customer service; keeping accurate records; crafting supplementary learning materials; maintaining required training certifications; fostering a safe and inclusive environment. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with three years of industry experience or five years of relevant industry experience without a degree. Knowledge and skills required include adult learning theory, Java, Python, Statistics, Databases/SQL, Networking, Linux, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity (ISC2 SSCP or CISSP required), AI, Machine Learning, NLP/LLM, instructional planning, communication, and time management. Scheduled hours are 5 hours per week teaching an 8-week course, sometimes no more than once per year. The position requires travel to various Columbus State campuses and client sites.
