Position Summary
Woods Hole Group is seeking a strategic, and creative Marketing & Communications Specialist to lead and execute integrated communication initiatives across content creation, digital strategy, internal and external communications, and event coordination. This role is critical to shaping the company’s voice, ensuring brand consistency, and promoting our scientific and environmental expertise on national and international stages.
The ideal candidate combines strong editorial capabilities with strategic thinking, understands the complexity of multi-audience communication (scientific, institutional, and public), and is comfortable navigating between hands-on execution and high-level coordination. This role also includes strategic collaboration with CLS Group’s corporate communication team and other subsidiaries, reinforcing shared visibility and impact with appetite for multicultural collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Editorial
- Lead the development of high-impact content for diverse channels (LinkedIn, website, press, internal, print, campaigns).
- Write and edit articles, news updates, blog posts, thought leadership pieces, brochures, and technical storytelling.
- Translate scientific and environmental topics into accessible, engaging messages for target audiences.
- Maintain the editorial calendar in alignment with group priorities and external events.
Events & Campaigns
- Develop and coordinate WHG’s presence at industry events (trade shows, conferences, partner events).
- Manage messaging, booth design, promotional materials, and team preparation for events.
- Plan and deploy outreach campaigns with internal stakeholders and CLS Group.
Digital Communications & Tools
- Oversee the company’s website (WordPress), ensuring regular updates, SEO alignment, and UX consistency.
- Manage digital campaigns through tools such as Brevo (ex-Sendinblue) for newsletters and email marketing.
- Develop visual and video content usingCanva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Analyze digital performance (social, web, email) and adjust strategies accordingly.
Press & External Relations
- Draft and distribute press releases in coordination with the CLS Group press office.
- Identify media opportunities and coordinate interviews or feature stories.
- Support reputation management through strategic messaging and positioning
Internal Communications & Group Alignment
- Build and manage internal communication tools, newsletters, and updates.
- Lead the creation of a bi-monthly internal business update, coordinating business units.
- Ensure the consistency of internal messaging and engagement with WHG and CLS Group culture.
- Act as a key liaison with CLS Group’s communication department to align roadmaps, resources, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a communications or marketing role, ideally in a technical, scientific, or B2B environment.
- Excellent writing and editorial skills, capable of adapting tone and complexity for various audiences.
- Strong project management and cross-functional coordination abilities.
- Demonstrated comfort and interest in working within a multicultural and international context.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Proficient in WordPress, Brevo, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Understanding of basic SEO, web analytics, and marketing KPIs.
Nice to Have (Not Required):
- Familiarity with conference/trade show coordination
- Basic understanding of email marketing tools or social media scheduling platforms
- Interest or experience in visual storytelling through photo or video content
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

- The position is a full-time, salaried position, commensurate with experience.
- This position will be filled at our Bourne, MA, Corporate Headquarters. (Monday- Friday) Hybrid Schedule available with successful completion of probationary period. (3 days /week in office required)
