Cascade Hardwood, a leading hardwood lumber manufacturer in the United States, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, warehouse distribution, and logistics operations. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient flow of goods from our Cascade Hardwood and Port Angeles Hardwood plant sites to customers, optimizing processes, and maintaining high levels of service quality. The Logistics Specialist will collaborate with Sales and Operations departments to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and support of business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee logistics operations including all transportation planning.
- Utilize data analysis skills and tools to monitor logistics performance metrics and identify areas for process improvement.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for effective procurement and sourcing strategies while managing contracts and vendor relationships.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve logistical challenges and improve overall efficiency.
- Collaborate with Sales, Inventory Control Manager, and Operation teams on demand planning, production planning, and inventory management.
- Analyze freight costs, pricing strategies, and profit & loss statements to optimize logistics expenditures.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related field with a focus on warehouse experience.
- Strong negotiation skills with a background in purchasing and supplier management.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis with experience in supply chain analytics.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
- Knowledge of e-commerce logistics processes is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to materials management processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
