Job Description
ENGIE North America is seeking a Project Controls Intern to join our team supporting infrastructure operations at the University of Iowa Campuses. This includes steam, power, water, and chilled water services for campus and hospital facilities.
As a Project Controls Intern, you will support the local finance team with daily operations and logistics. You’ll gain hands-on experience in areas such as:
Processing correspondence, purchase orders, and invoices
Supporting fuel tracking and reporting for power plant operations
Interacting with ENGIE staff, campus services, and vendors
Contributing to real-time problem-solving and seeing the impact of your work
This role offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while building foundational skills in project controls and infrastructure finance.
What You Will Do
The Project Controls Intern will learn and assist in maintaining the administrative workflows related to:
Review and process financial processes including purchase orders and invoices
Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials for business tools; financial software training will be provided to support this effort
Help create dashboards and manage data control processes to enhance project management and decision-making
Support the deployment of internal control measures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
Provide assistance with the consolidation and delivery of the budgeting and forecasting process to meet ENGIE planning and reporting cycles
Carry out other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Minimum Education Requirements: must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
Must be an enrolled student at the University of Iowa
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) with solid organizational and time management skills to support multiple tasks effectively
Clear and professional communicator with the ability to manage written and verbal interactions while maintaining accuracy across assignments
Additional Details
Students can work up to 20 hours per week while enrolled in an active semester. During breaks, including Spring, Summer, and Winter breaks, students can work up to 40 hours per week
The internship work term will be from August 2025 to December 24, 2025
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Hourly Range: $22.50 - $32.50 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
