Title: Technical Specialist – Interiors, Mechanisms
Location: Southfield, Michigan
Overview:
Seeking an experienced engineer to design, develop, and deliver complex automotive interior mechanisms such as air vents, storage systems, door handles, sliding roofs, seat rail covers, and sun visors . This role covers concept-to-production development, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software elements for a premium user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and test interior mechanisms with best-in-class haptics, ergonomics, and durability.
- Conduct kinematic/dynamic and stack-up analysis using Catia.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage suppliers to meet specifications.
- Integrate mechanisms into vehicle architecture, considering mechanics, electronics, and materials.
- Oversee full product lifecycle from concept through SOP.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years in automotive interior systems (or equivalent mechanism design in other industries).
- 4+ years direct experience with listed interior mechanism systems.
- Knowledge of gears, motors, actuators, hinges, linkages, dampers, and cams.
- Familiarity with FEA, CFD, and modal analysis.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes like injection molding, stamping, casting, and extrusion.
