Job Description
We’re looking for a sharp, systems-savvy Gameplay Designer to join our team on a contract basis and hit the ground running. You’ll focus on core game loops, meta-systems , and game mechanics tailored for free-to-play (F2P) audiences. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with product, design, and engineering to rapidly iterate and improve gameplay features that drive long-term engagement and monetization.
What You'll Do
- Design and balance core and meta gameplay loops that support player retention and progression
- Prototype and pitch new gameplay systems aligned with F2P best practices
- Collaborate with the design and product teams to align features with overall game economy and monetization strategy
- Create clear design documentation, specs, and wireframes for game mechanics and systems
- Analyze live data and player behavior to inform design decisions and suggest improvements
- Quickly iterate on features based on internal playtests, metrics, and team feedback
Who You Are
- 3+ years of professional experience in game design, with at least 1 shipped free-to-play title
- Deep understanding of F2P engagement loops, monetization systems, and player motivation
- Proven experience designing gameplay systems, game economies, and/or metagame mechanics
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating across disciplines
- Able to self-direct and prioritize in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- Immediate availability to onboard and contribute to an active project
Bonus Points For
- Experience with Unity or Unreal
- Familiarity with mobile or cross-platform development
- Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with telemetry-based design iteration
- Passion for social and competitive features in F2P games
