This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, major Range and Test Facilities Direct Hire Authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Must be a US citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Possession of a valid State of California Paramedic License or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic certification is required prior to employment. The incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid California Paramedic License and Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) accreditation within sixty (60) days of appointment. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent must continue to perform the ME duties until relieved by proper authority. This position requires participation in the DoD Firefighter Physical Fitness Program to include a physical exercise program and annual physical examination. Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License. This position requires the incumbent to work 144 hours bi-weekly. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serves as a firefighter-paramedic who works to control and extinguish fires, rescue persons endangered by fire, and reduce or eliminate potential fire hazards. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serves as a fully trained member of a firefighting crew engaged in the protection of life and property. Responds to alarms and combats fire in an industrial setting requiring the full performance of a firefighting tasks involving structures, equipment, and facilities.
