Robert Half is seeking a Network Infrastructure Technician to support a telecommunications infrastructure organization based in Hillsboro, OR . This role involves supporting the internal core network and data center operations due to increased workload and resource constraints in Oregon. Job Details:

  • Schedule: 40 hours/week, occasional on-call rotation (1am–5am, Mon–Fri); standard work hours 8am–5pm
  • Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
  • Location: Hillsboro and surrounding areas (including Salem, Astoria, and Wilsonville)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite infrastructure support across core network
  • Perform fiber optic installations, testing (OTDR), cleaning, and documentation
  • Work with DC power systems including 48V fuse panels (training available)
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot routers and networking hardware
  • Conduct site visits in various OR locations, starting from home with reliable transportation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for maintenance windows (compensated separately)
  • Coordinate closely with internal infrastructure teams to enable smooth operations
  • Working knowledge of telecom equipment, cabling and systems including Cisco, Juniper, Adva and Ciena equipment.
  • Working knowledge of fiber optic circuit flow with a demonstrated ability to successfully troubleshoot and resolve circuit faults and failures, equipment hardware failures.
  • Understanding of network circuits including, DWDM/CWDM, Ethernet, IP, MPLS, routing and switching protocols.
  • Working knowledge of telecom power systems including AC UPS, DC Power plant and distribution systems, cabling and supporting equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with telecom equipment installation, and maintenance including supporting infrastructure such as fiber troughs, cable management. Deep understanding of industry standard installation best practices for equipment, power systems and cabling, and both fiber and copper cables.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate appropriate telecom testing equipment (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters, cable scanners, fusion splicer, OTDR, T-Berd, etc.)
  • Computer skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products/Google Docs/Gmail.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem solving, attention to detail and time management skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
  • Ability to travel (company vehicle provided) within assigned service areas, up to 100+mi radius of assigned reporting location.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
