Join Our Team: Diesel Mechanic – Shop Technician

Are you a skilled Diesel Mechanic with experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment ? We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Shop Mechanic to join our team in Riverview. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions components.

This is a full-time opportunity with competitive pay, consistent hours , and opportunities for overtime . Weekend availability is a plus, and we offer Saturday interviews upon request for working technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose & Repair Diesel Engines: Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair work on diesel trucks, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and similar equipment.
  • Engine & Transmission Overhaul: Conduct in-frame and out-of-frame rebuilds, and service automatic and manual transmissions.
  • DPF/DEF Systems: Service and maintain diesel emissions systems, including DPF (Diesel Particulate Filters) and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid).
  • Electrical & Hydraulic Systems: Diagnose and repair electrical wiring, sensors, lights, battery systems, and hydraulic circuits.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine services such as oil changes, fluid checks, brake inspections, and tire maintenance to keep equipment running reliably.
  • Service Documentation: Accurately complete service records, maintenance logs, and work orders for all repairs performed.
  • Tool Care: Maintain and properly store personal and company tools used for the job.
  • Safety Checks: Inspect equipment safety systems (backup alarms, seat belts, horns, fire extinguishers) and ensure all gear meets compliance standards.
  • Communication: Coordinate with the Equipment Manager and team members regarding job progress, parts needs, and potential issues.

Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
  • Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic skills with a solid understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Brand Familiarity: Hands-on experience with top manufacturers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu , Freightliner, and International.
  • Tools: Must have a full set of personal mechanic tools (specialty tools provided as needed).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly, work on your feet, and perform in a shop setting.
  • Work Ethic: Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • License: CDL a plus but not required.
  • Mechanical Expertise: Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electrical issues.
  • Emissions Knowledge: Familiar with working on DPF and DEF systems for emissions.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime and weekends as needed.
