Job Description
Location: Suffolk County, NY
Pay Rate: $30.00 - $34.00/hr
Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for reviewing and analyzing physician documentation along with CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes to ensure accurate and compliant medical coding. This role ensures adherence to established coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include performing complex and technical coding assignments, analyzing and abstracting medical data to assign accurate and consistent diagnosis and procedure codes for billing and reimbursement purposes.
Additional duties include:
Resolving coding discrepancies and correcting claim denials from various third-party payers
Reviewing CPMP account notifications and accounts receivable reports (IDX)
Maintaining account status through IDX pending reports and tracking IDX record requests
Monitoring and correcting validity errors in PK files
Overseeing TES Open Encounter files
Managing CLIA renewals across all sites
Required Qualifications:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
3 Years of experience and an Associate’s degree (or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
Surgical coding experience preferred
Strong knowledge of medical coding requirements and standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
