The Assistant Mill Chemist works alongside the Chemical and Production teams in order to oversee the management, performance, and optimization of all chemical systems to enhance safety, quality, and operational excellence, while contributing to our company's vision of sustainable innovation.
The Assistant Mill Chemist's primary responsibilities as part of the mill operational team include, but are not limited to:
The candidate must be able to use their knowledge of papermaking and chemistry to solve process, equipment and quality problems. Applying your knowledge of chemical reactions and mathematical trends to troubleshoot and solve technical issues. Some mechanical / electrical knowledge or aptitude is beneficial.
Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear.
Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a hands-on role in a standard production environment.
